Convert avi files

I convert avi files to put onto a dvd so that i can watch it on my dvd player on my TV.

At present i am using Ulead Videostudio v 11 plus, but it is taking over 7 Hours to do one disc.

Can anyone recommensd a better software that will be quicker.
