Convert to MSAccess Broken in Excel?

By rvanderveer ·
We support an application that takes advantage of the Access Links Add-In to Excel for converting an Excel file into an Access file and data table. Recently, on all of our installed and test machines, that functionality became broken. The error is (paraphrasing) 'Cannot find the object ... Make sure the file name and path is correct'.

I suspect that this is a result of us installing MDAC 2.7 (which was necessary to keep our SQL Server connections humming). I have weeded out an Office 2000 version problem (occurs in all service packs of Office 2000) and I have seen the problem in Windows 2000 Server and Pro, SP2 and SP3. So I don't think it's a specific OS issue. But it used to work fine for us and now it doesn't!

Just wondering if anyone knows the actual problem, and if anyone has heard of fixes or other patches. In the mean time we are doing the conversion by pulling from Access and it works well. But our users would much prefer a push from Excel.

Do you have the correct Object libraries installed?
Go to VBEditor (Alt+F11)
Go to Tools>References See that the Office 9.0 Library is installed and checked.

DKlippert - Thanks for the suggestion, but I did check and that library is installed and was checked when I opened up the VB Library window. Bummer, I was hoping it would be that simple!! :-) Thanks nonetheless.
