I have a cisco 800 router and a 1700 router. I need to copy the config from the 800 to the 1700. I am using hyperterminal. I have managed to copy the config from the 800 to a file. But my problem is copying it to the 1700.
I connect to the 1700 and then type enalbe…I then put in the password. I then type configure terminal. Then I cope all the tect from the config file I saved and select “paste to host”. It copies it…and at the end it says “configured from console by console”. From the help document that I have I see that you need to say “copy current-config startup-config” inorder to save the config I just copied to memory. But after it copies the router does not go back to the configuration prompt…it stays by the “configured from console by console”. So if I press ctrl C it brings me to the configuration prompt and I type that and then it asks me “save to [startup-config]? If I then press enter it seems to save it and it says ok…but if I then type shoe current-config it looks completely different from the porper config.
What am I doing wrong?
Look forward to your response.
