Copy directory tree, with all permissions and dates

by quantumriff . Updated 18 years, 2 months ago

On my windows 2003 R2 server, I need to move my “home folders” share (among others) to a different partition. I need to preserve all ownership, permissions, ACL’s, and file dates for my 75 domain users. I have tried playing with RoboCopy, xcopy, etc, (and manually recreating the share) with no luck. Either the file dates, or owner, or ACL’s get goofy. I am currently using NTBackup to create a 60GB bkf file, which I will try to then restore and redirect to the new drive location, however, there has got to be a better way. (I have about 180GB of data to move, so a 3 step process is a pain, especially since I have multiple directories/shares to move)
