    Copy Files from remoter computer

    Locked

    by stephen.b.kent ·

I need to COPY files from a remote computer CD drive up to the network; so far I have been unsuccessful. I have shared the ‘host’ computer & granted ‘full’ privs. However, when I attempt to COPY files from the CD drive remotely to the network I get ‘The network path was not found.’

    Can anyone help?

Do you need to COPY from CD to CD or just to the computer in question?

If you are trying to copy FROM the CD drive to the remote computer then i would think that would be your error right there. Try and copy the info to your computers hdd AND then to the remote computer.

Have you shared the CD drive?

Can you access the Admin shares, C$, Admin$, etc on the remote computer?

Yes, I had shared the drive but was using the wrong syntax; I tried ALL possible combinations except the right one!

          Read-only

Check the files you copied if you want them to be write-enabled. Depending on the way you copy the file, Windows may set the read-only flag because the file came from a CD.

If you try to modify it and can’t, check the file permissions.

          🙂

          Glad to hear it’s resolved.
