Copying Ubuntu from SD to SD for Eee PC

Ok… linux gurus…

I’ve got an Eee PC 701 with Ubuntu 7.04 installed on the 4gb SDD drive. I never use it anymore. I successfully installed 8.10 on a 4gb SD card and set this as the primary boot drive. Now when I boot up, it gives me a menu. The default is to boot of HD1, I believe, which is the SD card, or I can select to boot from HD0, which is the SSD drive running 7.04.

Here is what I *want* to do. I’ve bought an 8gb SD card. I want to copy the install from the 4gb to the 8gb, and I’d really ideally like to remove the install from the SSD drive altogether and have that as additional, fast storage space.

The upgrade to an 8gb card was so that I would have more available space on the 8.10 system drive, as 4gb is kind of tight with Ubuntu. So, an additional requirement is that I need to be able to resize or GROW the current partition when I move it from the 4gb to the 8gb SD card.

I’d rather *not* do a fresh install on the 8gb card, as getting Ubuntu working correctly and customized for the EEE PC is a bit of a PITA.

Is there an application that is best suited to my goal? Win32 or Open Source is fine by me. It has been awhile since I really *imaged* a drive from one drive to another and grew it in the process.

Also, I believe I am using GRUB as the boot loader, not LILO. In that case, what considerations do I have to worry about in order to free up the SDD drive and remove the 7.04 entry from the boot menu? Is it simply a matter of editing a grub.cfg file in the /etc direction?
