Copying User Profiles

by nathan . Updated 25 years, 3 months ago

I have a Win2000 domain a Development and a File Server that users can share files with. In order for the workstations to have access to thes machines they need to login under the domain. One point of entry to everything they need. The only problem is I need to get there profile migrated over to their new user account. Thats where I am having the trouble. Because every time I copy a local user profile(ex. eric.detroit) to a domain user profile(ex. eric.michigan) I encounter program errors in the domain user profile. It dosen’t seem to copy all the system settings that exist in the local user profile. Examples of some of the following errors exist in quickbooks, Outlook and win Fax. Which were all installed under the local profile.

Is there any way I can copy the local user profile to a Domain user profile without encountering such errors? Currently I have tried setting up a roaming profile solution, a local profile solution, and have even tried changing the access rights in the registry. Every possible way has failed.

Thanks for your help in advance,

Nathan
