Corporate E-mail

By Colorado Tech ·
I want to get some views on corporate e-mail . We have 5 locations. Should we have a corporate e-mail server and forward e-mails to sub-site e-mail servers or have 1 server and have all the users pull mail over the frame relay? What software, exchange or an open source solution. Any comments

How many users are you supporting? I would prefer to have a central server for the purposes of backing up the data. I've used exchange and lotus notes. I found exchange/outlook to be a pretty good combo. Lotus was very frustrating if only used for email.

Also, you might want to think about how sensitive your data is before outsourcing your email.

I'd lean Exchange

You're exactly the customer that MS is looking for for an exchange solution. A multi-site structure is something Exchange can swallow pretty easy. You will have to weigh a LOT of factors though. I'd break open some serious how-to manuals and read the first couple of planning chapters. I would guess you'll need at least 10-12 hours of good solid planning to answer what goes where.
