corrupt CAB file

I had to format a lgig hard drive and I am trying to re-install win95,& win98upgrade. Drive is fdisked and formatted. Win95 begins install then comes up with corrupt CAB file cannot proceed. I tried another Win95 disc, same thing. CAB files are compressed files, am I missing something in the bios to enable compressed files.Win98upgrade was already installed on this computer so I have done something when formatted. Socket 7, cyrix 266
