Corrupt Icon trouble in WIndows 98 SE

by mparkinson . Updated 25 years ago

I recently buit a new PC complete with a Nvidia Geforce 2 MX400 64Mb AGP graphic card (Manufactured by Sparkle).

I’ve noticed since installing the latest Nvidia Drivers and Direct X8 that several Icons on the WIndows desktop have become corrupted (Square pixellated blobs). This trait seems to have spread since I first noticed it and now most (but not all) my icons are corrupt.

When I hover the mouse over the Icon the true Icon shape appears but is still black and pixellated.

I tried going back to the original drivers but that has not helped, neither has reducing/increasing resolution or changing Icon size.

Other graphical elements are fine – only icons are affected.

I’d appreciate any help resolving this.
