corrupt registry and repair and cd/dvd player

i have a similar problem as oliver_ricken but my problem goes a little deeper my cd/dvd player is not recognized by the registry...I've tried everything, like system restore, best lask known, uninstalling the cd/dcd player, letting the plug and play find it, uninstall drivers, update drivers...i get a corrupt file in the registry code 19... it does not recognize my cd/dvd. how do i reinstall xp pro to rectifi this problem, if can, if i cant get the cd/dvd player working...

Follow the instructions at the following URL and you should be able to get your CD/DVD back without reinstalling XP.;en-us;314060

Let us know if this doesn't work.

If you tried to burn a WinXp cd the OS recognizes and has a built in code that prevents the CD from working whether is a copy write cd or video cd and you try to burn it the codes will lock your cd out, look around for all others and you will see you are not the only one lock out.
