    Corrupted Display

    Locked

    by boyd ·

One of our PCs running WinME gets several controls corrupted. The normal ones are START, MINIMIZE|MAXIMIZE|CLOSE and the up and down scroll bar arrows. I have loaded the latest video card drivers, but that did not help. Right now the START buttonis nothing but fuzz. The only way to clear up I know is to reboot. Check boxes are also freqquently messed up.

Open the Control Panel and double-click the Displaly icon, select the Setttings Tab,click Advanced button and adjust the Refresh Setting to see if this will help, also you may want to check the monitor setting to make sure it is listed correctly.

Since you say several PCs, I assume you have a standardized setup for your company.
This is usually a hardware problem.
Most of the time it is the monitor.
      Swap to check.
If it is, and you have to delay replacement.
Lower the refresh rate. (Force it down manually in the display settings)
That reduces the load on the monitor power supply, and the sweep circuits.
This prolongs the time until total failure occurs.
      Regards, Chris
