Corrupted fat.....

By dthirlway ·
One of my office machines (the bosses which has every thing on it, so he seems to think) was working one day then the next day when I turned it on it was wiped. Nothing was left on the system it was as if it was formatted. Howeve it had not been.
I have this software from power quest called Lost and Found. I picked up all the files and directories that where lost (it said the fat was corrupted).

However the thing is the only destination media I can select is the floppy drive so this software is out of the question.

Does any on know how to fix a corrupt fat table so I can see all the data on the drive again thanks.

With norton disk editor you can physically change the data in the damaged FAT if it will read and write the sector. The raw data is carried in two FATs so you would get the good info from the second fat and write it to the first fat. Takes a long time to do it but worth it if you need to get access to important files.

Hope this helps and good luck.

You could also use an emergency repair disk if you made one when the system was loaded.
