Corrupted Win2K

By Gandalf237 ·
I have a stand-alone Win2K system that as soon as you log into it, the dialog box starts "loading your system settings". Then immediately it jumps to "saving your system settings". It is then stuck in this loading/saving loop without ever completing the logon process. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

repair your OS

Let your system boot from the Win2K CD. Select repair instead of install and let the OS fix the problem.

Ive had this happen to me 1-2 times. Each time it was something strange happening to the partition on the hard drive. I damaged it somehow. I was never able to repair the OS. I had to reinstall from scratch.

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode, then checking your Startup group and the Run key in the Registry?
