IT Employment

General discussion

We recently help job interviews for IT support assistants. In my branch of the company, we were required to recruit 2 people. Being the systems admin and the guy who was let more time to assess the candidates, i had given in my objective choices. Now am surprised, when this morning, the manager, and therefore big boss in the branch, came around introducing the two new employees he and his assistant had given the position. None of my guys was there, infact he brought in the rawest of them all......and now i hear one of them is his.....I want to know am not happy. Please friends, advise.

Monarchs used nepotism extensively when they needed trustworthy employees. God Save the King!

Remember the old saying "It's not what you know but who you know"

Not unusual

Just because they asked you for your opinion about the candidates does not mean that they are going to do what you suggested. That part of your experience happens all of the time and there is nothing wrong with it.

Bad managers hire their own children or their friends' children or whatever. Unfortunately it is not unusual and it often is not in the best interest of the business.

Welcome to the world of workplace politics.

What pisses me off the most is that one of the new staff-a lady-is sleeping with him! he didn't even know her before the day she dropped in her application(they were expexted to hand deliver). Then he took her out that night. Dont you think the job was taken before she even sat the interview, which was oral?? what pisses me off is why you shoould let pple travel long distances for a job interview you are sure they wont get. Am really sorry for the others but as you said, lifes a *****!
