Could new motherbaord freeze W2K?

By Joe Donahue ·
I am running Windows 2k Advanced Server on my network. I had to replace the motherboard and after receiving my replacement motherboard from the manufacturer I decided to change to a Celeron processor to as well. After rebooting I get through the Bios but Windows freezes at the splash screen after the Starting Windows bar reaches the end. Could it be that Windows doesn't recognize the processor or the motherboard? Or what else could it possibly be?
And what can I do to remedy the problem? I'm really stuck here because this server is serving my website! Please Help!!!

Go into the BIOS setup and change Initial First Display to PCI, also make sure that PIO mode set to either AUTO or Mode 3 for HArd Drive.

First, check out this Microsoft Knowledge Base Article.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q249694

Remove the space in the pasted link.

Next, what CPU were you using before?
My thinging may be wrong, but I would want the extra Cache of a Pentium CPU on a server.

A degraded fan or bad cpu will cause freeze ups. check fan if it is lose or noisy replace. Otherwise it sounds like software. cpu's are really hardy if the cooling fan is good and forgiving even when they are bad a replacement would clear it up in most cases if it has not been bad long.

I agree with answer 2. And may have to reload 2000 Server. I hope you did a back up.
