Could you help me with a class project?

DPI is Dots Per Inch, usually referring to printers. This is, simply, the number of dots that fit in one inch. The smaller the dot, the larger the DPI and the better the resolution.

Dot Pitch is the spacing between individual pixels when referring to monitors. The trouble is how this spacing is measured. Some manufacturers measure from the outside of a pixel to the nearest outside of the next pixel. Personally, I feel that's cheating. I believe the standard is to measure from a particular point on one pixel to the same spot on the next pixel. This measurement is in millimeters so a dot pitch of .24 means that there is .24 of a millimeter between pixels.

Resolution is the general term for how well a picture is reproduced on a monitor or a printer. For example, DPI and resolution, when speaking about a printer are essentially interchangable, but it is completely different when speaking about a monitor.

Resolution when speaking about a monitor is referring to the number of pixels the screen is wide and high. For example, I keep the resolution on my home PC at 1024X768. This means that there are 1024 pixels horizontally and 768 pixels vertically bringing the total to just under 800,000 pixels on my monitor.

Hope this helps!
