could you solve that?

By amigo_bogdan ·
Hello! I have a problem and I think you can help me. This must be in C and run in Linux. The problem is to write an application which periodical verify if a website is active. The list of websites will be read from a configuration file. You will determine the situations that a wetsite change from active to inactive or from inactive to active. In that case you will send an email to an email adress specified in configuration file. To verify if a website is active, you can use the HTTP protocol. That's all. I hope you will help me with that. Thanks a lot and have a nice day.

Suggest you try the "Questions" forum.

The "Discussion" forum is for matters of general discussion, not specific problems in search of a solution.

Post problems such as this to the "Question" forum, rather than the "Discussion" forum. There are those who specifically seek out problems in need of a solution, and that's where they go to look for such.

Additionally, the "Question" forum provides for your rating the helpfulness of responses, so that others with the same or similar problem might be able to more easily find a solution.

problem is,

that this question is a homework assignment.
and I don't think anyone here would do the persons homework for him.

editing to add:

no company would require someone to write such an app in c from scratch, they would have them bash script it using existing utilities.
[ ping if no response mail to:..... ]

a 10 minute bash script or a 5 day program.. hmm if I'm paying for the person's time, the 10 minute script thanks.

My job's not to please him, but to simply wake him up.

Besides, making him re-post may be the only way to get him do some work.

More likely, though, that he just copied and pasted his original post into the Body of his posting as a Question.
