    CP -F Command in 7.3

    Locked

    by borginva ·

A silly question I guess, but in Red Hat 5.2, the command “cp -f” worked and it did not ask to confirm file copying. In Red Hat 7.3, the command will still ask to confirm if I want to overwrite.
    Is there a fix?
    Thanks.

You may be using an alias, which RedHat 7.3 uses by default to ‘cp -i’; this will ask to confirm on overwrite even with -f present. Check with ‘alias cp’. To use the command without the alias, insert a backslash before the command (e.g. ‘\cp -f …’).
