CPU overload

By jejancuk ·
I have a Gateway Pentium III computer with 650 MHz Athlon Processor. Internet Explorer in Windows XP overloads the CPU and won't close. Popup ads only compound the situation. It was not doing this several months ago but I can't pin-point any software that may have caused the problem. Any solutions?
Thanks.....Gene

sounds like malware to me, check out these two articles:

Download AdAware from:
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ update it and scan and remove everything. Then download SpyBot Search & Destroy at:
http://beam.to/spybotsd update it and scan and remove everything.
If you still have problems get Spy Sweep at www.webroot.com, it however is not free but there is a trial version.

Good Luck,
Peter

If that doesn't work, "but it probably will", try unchecking "Enable 3rd Party Browser Extensions" under Tools > Internet Options > Advance Tab. Restart and try. Spyware removal is highly recommended.
