Create live broadcasts w/Windows Media 9 Series

By MaryWeilage Editor ·
This week's Web Development Zone e-newsletter describes how to use the Windows Media Encoder 9 engine (Encoder) to create a live multimedia broadcast from a Web page.

Does your development team use Windows Media Player? If not, do you plan on using Windows Media Player 9 Series to create a live multimedia broadcast from a Web page, as described in this tip?

Where's the name in the ref?

by sloan In reply to Create live broadcasts w/ ...

The article says that the name of the stream is in the href attribute of the REF tag. I can't see it, so where is it? Is it encoded?

<REF href="" />

Also, it might be a bit more helpful to explain where to get the info to put into the href tag...

Sorry... Here it is

I apologize for the href attribute being garbled in the HTML version of the e-newsletter. Here it is:
<REF HREF="http://localhost:8080/Live" />

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're still investigating why this occurred.

Has anyone actually got this code to work?

by neil30076 In reply to Create live broadcasts w/ ...

My start page from the first of the 2 articles appears to start the server, ( and i can start in manually on //localhost:8080 as specified, but the second page ( viewer) never connects, and i do not see the file : http://localhost/Develop/Media/wm_test.wvx anywhere. What did i miss in the setup?
