Create Sevice pack 2 package

By iwan.rosales ·

I want to create a Windows XP Service Pack 2 package that I can deploy to machines over the network, I have tried it with Prism deploy but it asks for the Windows CD. I also tried to make a MSI package but it can make it because some files are locked or in use.
Can someone help with this situation?

You want to push the upgrade to the machines that are in place?

The options really depend on your network itself.

Here are a few of your options - read deploying service pack 2.

The thing is we want to make a aumatted install package with predefiend settings like firewall ofand automatic updates of and websites added to the popup killer.
We want to deploy this 10 machines at a time that are pre selected with a minimum impact.

Update only or...

A roll out of a complete OS? Are you running AD? There are a few questions here.

If you are just patching systems that are currently in place, you can force the upgrade and then use group policies to manage your clients who have obtained the upgrade. All the options for firewall, popup blocker, windows update, etc... are available wthin the administrative templates of the group policy utility. You can also push an 'adm' file to your clients after you've made the appropriate adjustments on a mock workstation.

Here is some propaganda from the MS machine...

There are a few tut's for apply sp2 GP templates with the sp2 rollout.

This is a tech. problem, in search of a solution.

It properly belongs in "Technical Q&A," not in "Discussions."

Please re-post there.

Thank you.

You're on a roll with the auto-response. I think he has his solution now anyways... unless he doesn't understand what I am talking about.
