I did something stupid and I am hoping it is an easier fix than completly restoring the drive. Client running server 2003 RAID 1 array 2x80gb drives. It appears that almost 2 months ago they began getting RAID degrading message..but only recently told me…went to replace the “bad” drive (Intel(R) 82801ER) the config screen showed first SATA drive NORMAL second missing and NON-RAID. Added new drive but could not get it to see drive as RAID drive so I selected from config utility to Delete RAID Volume..then I had 2 seperate NON-Raid drives now is the mistake. I then selected CREATE Raid Volume…got all the warnings but went ahead anyway and then found out that the computer would not boot – asking for a boot disk I moved the drives to anothter computer and ran a recovery program to look and the entire drive and files are still there but the drive is not partitioned…is there a way to bring it all back without “recovering” the files and reinstalling the OS and all the programs..ALso found it interesting that the drive that suposedly failed had all it files and directories intact as well using the recovery program.
There is a tape backup but again I can see everything with the recovery software but drive is showing to be “unformatted”
Any help would be greatly appreciated
