Creating 2nd user equal to Admin

By seberdl ·
I need to add a user in NW5.x with same rights as Admin just in case Admin gets deleted. How and where do I create this, ie at Root, tree, or OU??
Thanks.. Dave

Most definitely in the root.

At the root, create the user, and make it
a trustee of the root. In user details, make sure you set all password, and login options.

you can actually create the user any place you would like and then just make it a trustee of the Root object. By making it a trustee of the Root object and giving it all supervisory rights at that level, the admin rights will filter down to everything below the root object.

Hi Dave,

1. Create a user within the organisation (You can't physically create users directly under the root)

2. Right click on and choose 'Trustees of this object'.

3. Make your new admin user a trustee with ALL rights. (i.e. physically put a tick in every box)

4. Although rights do filter down, object trustee assignments can be blocked (unlike in the file system) so I advise you to right click on each organisation and organisational unit, and again grant ALL rights.

5. By granting the admin user all object rights, they automatically get full supervisor rights to the file system.

6. Thats it - there is no 6!!!

Hope this helps!

Robin

You need to give the new user Full Rights to the root of the NDS tree. If you have IRM's in use you will need to check these as well to ensure the new 'admin' user is not omitted.
Hope this helps.
