creating a batch file

I am running Veritas Backup software 8.6 on a W2k server. I am using McAfee Groupshield to backup my exchange mailboxes. I need to stop 2 of these services before my backup will run properly. To do this I need to create a batch file to stop the service before and after the backup is done. What is the correct syntax to stop a service running on a difference server? or can this even be done?
