creating Distribution Lists for Contacts

By Brian Krumpelman ·
How would I create a distribution list for sever contacts/companies? 100's of contacts. New distribution list(s) would be catagorized by say fruit type (like apple). And would include several apple providing vendors, each with multiple employee contacts.
Dist. list should include entire groups of contacts, and shouldn't have to update these master list, when employees drop/add from one of the many included companies within that catagory (apples).
Let me know if I need longer explanation!

creating Distribution Lists for Contacts

Brian,

Thats sounds like a lot to do <G>. Theres a couple of methods I think that may work. But I know others will have some ideas as well.

1) Multiple recipient lists. Make a new recipient list for apple, add custom recipients for each employee contact, and make distribution lsts for the vendors to correctly group the custom recipients. When addressing emails, you can easily change the drop list viewed in the "to" field to the correct company like Apple.

2) Use of public folders. This would be more work to set up and the design would have to be thought out first.

left to right, upp to lower folders:
Companies - Apple - Vendors - employees (contact type). Then another company like IBM would be:
Companies - IBM - vendors - employees.

ANyways, I hope this helps out. I am sure others here will have some good ideas as well. Good luck!
