Creating .INI file

Sounds like you have part of an answer but haven't given us enough information in order for us to really help you.... at least not with specifics.

You can create an .INI file with any text editor, and you can place the strings that you have above in an .INI file.... but how will windows know what to do with this?

Generally, instructions such as this (instructions that specify a certain string and value), will also give you the name of the INI file to add this to.

What you want to do is go to a DOS prompt and change to your windows directory... cd\windows (or cd\winnt).... and then type: edit msoffice.ini (i'm assuming MSOFFICE.INI because you placed this question in office 2000). Next a window opens and you add the text. File--> Save and you are done.

But there may be any number of INI files that this question may pertains to. Do a DIR *.INI at the DOS prompt to see all the current INI files (or a DIR *.INI /P to pause screenfulls).

You can also type EDIT NEWNAME.INI to create a new file and type your string and definition in there.... but I don't think windows will recognize the commands unless you have the proper file.

Usually these type of instructions are VERY specific as to which INI file ?????Hope this helps, but if not.... we need more info. Which INI file? Or where did you get this partial information? What are you trying to accomplish?

Like Anna777 said , we need more info about what you are trying to achieve.

However it sounds a bit like you are trying to do this programmatically to me, so...

look up help on API calls:

WritePrivateProfileSection
WritePrivateProfileString GetPrivateProfileString

A good place for this is http://www.allapi.net
