You failed to mention what version of the Operating system you want to convert

If you have W2K Pro you can type CMD,from the Run box and convert the partition from the command prompt
Convert:\C /fs:ntfs

To convert using FDISK,you can select the file system type during setup

Windows NT 4 will not convert to NTFS if you enable large disk support during fdisk, this process would require using a third party software such as Partition Magic or Partition Commander
See the following articlewww.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/itpro/managing/convertfat.asp

If you want to keep all your files and settings, then you would just convert the file to ntfs byy doing the following at the prompt. Convert:\C /fs:ntfs If you want to remove all file, and repartion the space, then you would boot from the CD, and when you get to upgrade or new install, you would type new and follow the directions. When you get to formatting, you would choose NTFS.
