creating partition using disk sruid

Hi : I got ibm netfinity server with one scsi disk 16GB capacity ,with 512 mb ram its a piii machine, now want to install redhat linux 9.0 server on it,
My question is; is there any rules to assign disk space for particular partitions.

Unless you have some very specific reasons to do otherwise,
using the installer's automatic partitioning option should take

Disk partitioning is depend on users req.some partition should have extra space like. / , /proc .Give max space to /proc because all installation is gone through /proc.other wise go through standered installation linux auto partition your disk.

Well, you want a SWAP partition that is 2x the size of the ammount of ram you have. Then you want to creat an EXT3 file system partition. That should be good for a basic install of linux..
