Creating Subnetwork in present flat

By jayesh_nishane ·
I have a 10.2.0.0/16 Network. I have 2 nos. Layer 3 6506 Cisco switches. Right now no layer 3 subnetting is done. It is a flat Network. Now I want to further do subnetting as 10.2.x.y/24. I require 26 subnets or VLANs. What is the best way to migrate to Layer segmentation so that my internal and external communication goes on. My external network is 10.0.0.0. Can you help me out?

You will need to configure VLANs on your RSM. Before you do that, you will need to plan out your network on paper. I have more to offer on the subject, but it's difficult to put it down here because of the space limitations and the fact that you get logged off after 10 minutes of inactivity. I will attempt to send you an e-mail at the address listed. If that is incorrect, please respond with your correct e-mail address to chris.kilday@ctg.com. Best wishes.

I would suggest using 10.2.0.0 with a 255.248.0.0 as the subnet mask that will give you 32 network with 52000 host's per network. If you had to use a flat network, whitch i wouldn't recommend that is you best bet. Make sure you set up you vlans first.
