I want to be able to create a set of installation/refresh images for various machine models we have in our environment. That way, if a Dell Optiplex 170L, for instance, crashes, I just refresh it with the 170L image and I’m on my way.
Back in the day, under Win 9x, you could run a Microsoft untility called Image Prep just prior to making the image file. This stripped out all of the product keys, among other things. This way, you could use one image for multiple machines and not worry about licensing hassles because they all had the same key codes. I think GhostWalker was another option.
Is there a utility currently available to do this? I am using Norton Ghost to image the machines (if you have a different suggestion, please let me know!)
