Creative SB X-Fi Issue

By Michael34 ·
Have a Creative SB X-Fi (PCI-E Sound card with updated drivers running XP 32-bit) Every time I play pop-cap games or any games like it, the game will run fine then the in-game sound effects (Which use WAV files) seam to stop after about 10 - 30 minutes however the music continues to play fine.

I went in dxdiag and ran a test on DirectSound. When I did the tests using the Software Buffer I couldn't hear but the ones from the Hardware Buffer I could hear, also when it does this I cannot play any .wav files (System Sounds more specific they play but I hear nothing) but I can play MP3's and other formats just fine.

I have updated the Creative drivers, and DirectX but I am still having this issue and it seams the only way to fix it is to reboot my PC. I also have a Realtek sound card in my PC (On-board) that I switched to which don't seam to have this issue so I am unsure why my creative one is. Have reinstalled / uninstalled the creative driver a number of times and still no idea what is causing this.

Any help is much appreciated.

What M'Board is this on?

Also did you disable the On Board Sound in the BIOS?

The other thing that I've run across is on M'Boards with Realtech Audio it's best to install the OS without the Realtech being active so that the Sound Blaster works correctly.
