Siebel claims to have a 60% market share of CRM apps.
my SAP & Oracle CRM are the next in popularity I believe.
Clarify, GreatPlains, Vantive, ePiphany, Kana and others follow.

CRMs be various vendor support specific business segments. if u need a general view, then the previous respondent has responded. if you are looking for any particular industry/business segment then you need to focus on your need and what various CRM packages offer.

I concur with Answer 2. CRM Systems are specialized for different industries. In my industry (Automobile Dealers) the leaders in my opinion are Cobalt's Cowboy, and Reynolds and Reynolds as these are the only 2 I have found that offer CTI Integration.

I also concur with Answers 2 & 3. Siebel is rated high on a general level because of lot of verticals like Automotive, Public Sector, Communications, Consumer Goods, Apparel and Footwear, Energy, Finance, Insurance, Healthcare, Pharma and Retail.

If you are looking for a particular vertical or sector, there most probably would be another market leader as such.

Goldmine is sales oriented, but it insists in saving every scrap of data. Email setup often causes problems, but you need administration. Regular backups and archiving the database at a cut-off where performance is maintained without loosing valuable information is essential.

A good alternative is ACT! www.act.com They have a new, complete re-write of this product called ACT! Professional with may be worth a look in a few months when it is no longer on the bleeding edge.
They have released a new product called ACT! Professional for workgroups that is SQL powered an d likely to be a closer contender to the heavyweight products above.

The current ACT! 6 is sales oriented, the best feature being a good reporting tool. Wired Contact (aka ACT! for web) is their web interface, the current version is pretty stable but it is not recommended for large operations.
