By transparentheart069 ·
Does anyone know a good site where i can get a print out containing pin outs of how to make a cross over cable, with color graphics showing how to line up the pins?

graphic crossover cable

by jereprdg In reply to cross over cable pin outs

My Yahoo search yielded a graphic pinout for both 2 pair and 4 pair "Ethernet crossover cable" at Wikipedia.com. Very good overviews and color codes with pinouts. But be warned, I have since found different sites who don't match the pair "rolls" and I have not been able to get my cable? or computers to communicate so keep digging. They do give a good overview of the objective and the differences between the straight through cable and the crossover...worth the read.

For 568B wiring, you need to reverse the orange and the green pairs on one end so...

Sraight through would be this on both ends:

1 Striped Orange
2 Solid Orange
3 Striped Green
4 Solid Blue
5 Striped Blue
6 Solid Green
7 Striped Brown
8 Solid Brown

For crossover, reverse the orange and green pairs and you get this on one end:

1 Striped Green
2 Solid Green
3 Striped Orange
4 Solid Blue
5 Striped Blue
6 Solid Orange
7 Striped Brown
8 Solid Brown

This works all the time.
