Cross-platform benchmarking suite needed

By phil.hall ·
I'm looking for a cross-platform benchmarking suite. It must run natively (and by that I mean no emulation required, it will run on both operating systems without additional software or configuration) on Windows and Linux. The source-code should (if possible) be GPL, if not that's ok too, I'll deal with the situation. I want to test the same pieces of hardware under both operating systems for comparison. The things I?d like to compare are memory utilization, I/O performance, and general things like that. Ideally, I?d like the source-code to be GPL so that anyone who sees the results can?t cry foul (at least on my part.)

Any help you have is greatly appreciated.

Although most of those listed were linux only benchmarks, there was one gem among the list that may do what I need the test to do. That gem was iozone. I will use that for my tests and hope it will do that which I need. As a result of being the first to answer the question with a viable solution that I had not been able to locate (I searched google as well and Iozone never showed up). I'm going to award the points to you and close this issue. Thanks.
