Custom audio not working in my Windows 11 Video Editor
by zubyahmed90 · about 2 years, 4 months ago
The inbuilt video editor of Windows 11 allows users to insert custom audio. But mine is not working in my Windows 11 Video Editor. I can’t open a custom audio file. How do I resolve this issue?

You haven’t provided enough information to offer assistance. What make/model computer? Which video editor, from Microsoft or a different program? Has it ever worked? How old is the computer? Any recent changes to the computer software or hardware?

You didn’t reveal the audio’s encoding method. Beyond W11’s Video Editor the issue of audio encoding COMPATIBILITY is found in almost ALL Video Editors. Same with Video Encoding.
Fix? Transcode to compatible encoding.
You might ask which audio encoding is compatible. For that we use google searches.
You might ask how to transcode audio. Again, we can google that but I like AUDACITY which has plenty of tutorials on the web. I prefer the download from ninite.com

Are you sure the audio file meets the requirements?
How do you try to open it and what happens then? -

I have exactly the same problem as described below. I’m working on a brand new machine and have no history before with the video editor. One song is loading fine (the light blue line at the beginning of the video), even though I cannot extend it over the whole video.
Second song is ‘stuck’ (showing the markers). Cannot move the markers apart, it does not load any actual music.
Tried to register the app, update my machine, reboot, retry with different files etc.. but the result remains the same.
Both files are .mp3.
I spent so much time on the video now getting stuck with the audio part.
Windows 10, version 21H1
Microsoft Photos / Video Editor : Custom Audio does NOT work (even with the latest version)
Hello Answers Community & Mods,
In MS Video Editor : Add Audio File does NOT work (even with the latest version).
– When I go to the “Custom Audio” tab
– Click on “Add Audio File” (and browse for an MP3 / WAV in a Folder that’s added to my Library)
– It indeed lists the Audio File in the Left-Sidebar, and is checked
– On the bottom, the timeline shows 2 markers / handles
– I can move them together left and right
ISSUE: I CAN’T change the Begining / End with these markers, because they’re stuck together somehow. So when set them at the Beginning, and click “DONE”, no music is inserted into the main video Timeline at all.
This obviously is related to a UI issue: needless to say there’s no way a user can break a Universal App this way.Hope this helps.
