Customising PC

by whizzbee . Updated 19 years, 7 months ago

I am trying to put together a spec for my new pc, and i am currently looking at mesh, who seem to be offering a reasonable deal on the (concise) spec below for aaround ?1700 ex VAT…

Intel? Extreme QX6700 Quad Core
Processor(2.66GHz,8MB Cache,1066MHz)
ASUS nForce 680i SLI Deluxe Mainboard
2048MB DDR2 900MHz Memory
500GB Serial ATA Hard Drive
768MB nVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
2x Sony LightScribe 18x Super Format DVD Writer
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Logitech G7 Gaming Mouse
Internal 33-in-1 Memory Card Reader
Premiere Warranty – 3 Years On-site

My only real concerns/questions are with the graphics and the RAM;

Namely, do I go for either of the following Graphics upgrades (with prices!) ?
2x 640MB nVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS – SLI +250
2x 768MB nVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX – SLI +450!!

And, do i go for 4G RAM instead of 2, and, if so, do I spend an extra ?300 (instead of ?100) on 900Mhz memory?

I would not really class myself as a completely hardcore gamer, but I want this PC to be as good as I can get it in terms of value and forwards-compatibility…
