    Cutting power to LCD monitors

    Locked

    by conor20_ie ·

    Hello,
In my work, I have 8 LCD monitors which work together as one big screen. Turning them all off by their on/off buttons is time consuming.

I’d like to hook them all up to one power source and use this as their on off switch. Would cutting the power to the monitors like this damage them?

    Thanks, Conor.

Not if you know what you are doing it would be quite easy to splice all 8 power leads together so that there is only one Mains plug but it would look messy.

Wouldn’t it be easier to plug them all into one power board and just unplug or turn off that?

Due to surges of electricity when cutting the power off or on the inverters inside the lcd’s could become damaged. It would be best to allow the panels to go into standby or let them powerdown before de-energizing them.
