cyclic redundancy check

by defragme . Updated 16 years, 11 months ago

I needed to do a clean install on one of our employee’s laptops,a Compaq nx9420. Before I did so I copied the items she had on the desk top to a folder on our network, then I noticed she had picture, movies and music in her Documents folder. My boss was upset that she had so much personal stuff on the laptop and didn’t even want me to save it but I knew some of these photos were important to her, like her trip to Africa and such, so I burned everything to DVD’s using the Roxio Sonic program. I checked the DVD’s on my system and the files were there, but when she put them in her system the DVD’s were empty. I put them back in my system and they would show up again but when trying to copy them I’m getting an error message “cyclic redundancy check”. Is there any way to save these files? The disks are also acting very weird, chugging along in the drive and they keep trying to crash my system. I’m fairly new to the business and feel horrible if I can’t save her files. Thanks for any help or suggestions.
