D-link router

By jeremy ·
I was just wondering what you guys think of the DLink wireless router that runs at 54Mbps? Also, is it ok to run that router and use other brands of pci wireless network cards like NetGear and LinkSys? Let me know, thanks.

D-link router

While I have no experience with this router, I have not been impressed with the D-Link components that I have used.

From a practical standpoint, you want to start out with ALL components from the same company. That way, if you have any problems, you don't have each company blaming the other manufactures hardware for your problem.

If I were setting up your network, I would go with either LinkSys or NetGear. LinkSys technical support is very knowledgeable and helpful should you have any problems especially with setting up the router to work properly with specific DSL and cable modems.

As a side note:
Pay close attention to your security settings for ANY wireless device. Unless you are looking to give away free access to your internet connection and data files, you want to enable as many security options as practical.
