Data Center/Racking Diagramming Software

By Blue Devil ·
Is there a software that you overwhelmingly (a) like, (b) find easy to use, (c) has stencils for everything, etc? I am doing a few things: diagramming (floor plan) of my data center and diagramming racks down to the "u". Visio, while robust, has me running for stencils, let alone a good data center floor plan template w/ stencils.

SOX is killin' me and not having this documentation makes me insane.

Do you have a favorite, the most fuctional one and/or suggestions for a good software?

Thx.

Look into Visio

by john.hanlon In reply to Data Center/Racking Diagr ...

I use Visio for most everything. Floorplans to rack diagrams. Visit Visocafe.com You will find stencils from a lot of the major vendors for patch panels, routers, storage, etc.

Seems easy to use and the learning time is quick.

Diagramming Software

by d.dmitriev In reply to Data Center/Racking Diagr ...

As for me I'm using ConceprDraw V. ConceptDraw V software is designed for professional flowcharting, diagramming and illustrating. Its flexible, handy tools help quickly document a variety of complex structures, systems and processes. ConceptDraw V charts can be shared as a large array of graphic files and CAD documents, presentations and web pages. ConceptDraw V is a Windows and Macintosh cross platform.

But now they announce the new release of its flagship product ConceptDraw VI.The new version features texture filling, export to Scalable Vector Graphics format (SVG), a new extended set of shape libraries and samples, and some significant improvements in software usability.

I think you should ti try it.
Thx for attention.

Centeros

If you want ease of use check out http://www.Centeros.com . If you want more than Visio can offer but without the complexity of large monitoring and design products it might be a good option.

You should try MS Visio 2010 templates for this purpose. Browse through visiotoolbox for different templates like asset management, capacity planning, database planning, facilities planning (for space planning).
