Data execution prevention error

Hi

I updated to XP SP3. Updated to IE 8.
Was working fine for 2 months. And then suddenly now I get a message saying, “Data Execution Prevention”, to help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program. The name is Internet Explorer and Publisher is Microsoft Corporation. It asks to “Close message”. When I click on Close message, it asks me to send an error report. I check the error report and this is what I get,
“EventType : BEX P1 : iexplore.exe P2 : 8.0.6001.18702 P3 : 49b3ad2e
P4 : unknown P5 : 0.0.0.0 P6 : 00000000 P7 : 03ed1ea8
P8 : c0000005 P9 : 00000008 ”

I checked for solutions online but I am not getting a definite answer. I do not want to turn off DEP. I have Norton Internet Security 2009 which has the problem of the “Phishing Protection” also. Everytime I open a internet explorer page the phising protection on Norton goes off. But the IE page says it is on. Then I need to click on Fix it. And I atleast I have to keep one IE page open to keep the green check on the Norton.

I remember downloading something from the internet a .avi file during that time and then the DEP started occuring.

And now what happens, everytime I open a window, intermittenly I get a DEP message even though there is no IE open. I have to close message….etc.

I checked task manager and I see more than 10+ entries for IE even though nothing is open. The Norton phishing is also going off randomly whenever the DEP pops up. And it also says that the tab has closed and reopened….even though there is no IE page open.

I restart the computer everything goes back to normal. Is there a fix to this?
