Data Projector

I am going to be using a data projector for the first time in a couple of weeks , I do not know the type/model yet but would apreciate any dos or donts ,how to set up , what hardware or drivers are needed(if any) I am going to do a powerpoint presentation for a 21st birthday party , ( a this is your like stunt for my step daughter) any pointerts would be appreciated

I assume you are going to use an LCD projector.
Your PC or laptop should detect it as a plug and play monitor. You connect the VGA cable from your PC/Laptop to the projector and select the appropriate input(VGA, Video in etc)
Some projectors even scan the inputs automatically for a signal.Connect the line out from your sound card to audio in on the projector.

Thasnkyou very much, I was luckey for it to come already with a laptop configured with the projector.

After using a projector dont unplug it as soon as you have finished. After turnign the light off you need to let the cooling fans do thier bit until they stop.

Thankyou I felt this made a lot of sense to do this as there is a lot of heat generated from the lamp.

You may have to use the special function keys on your laptop to switch from your laptop display to the projector.

you have to check the video setting for the projector some you have the set to 800x600
or 1024x786
check the data for which setting the projector works best at

Could not say for sure if this is the case as it came with a laptop and was already configured for me. Thanks anyway.

Thankyou to all who ahve helped me. I used it for a "This is Your Life" for my step daughters 21st birthday party, It went very well and she was highly embarrassed.
