Data recovery from Overwritten CD

By nolignacio ·
I recently edited a word document that I access from my cd. Unfortunately, after finish editing I accidentally save it on the original disc. Now it only contains a word document which is around 80kb. Originally, the disc contains documents, midi file, MPEG file and Applications. It is around 500MB. Now the overwritten disc contains 580mb, does this mean, the other file I have before is still on the disc? Is there a way to recover these file?

As long as it was not overwritten, which may be in your case considering the CD is 580MB now, your original 500MB plus your new 80MB Word file, there?s a good chance of recovering them all.

Well if the above do not work you can always open your CD Recording software in "Multi Session Mode" and you should then be able to see previous data blocks that have been recorded to that particular CD.

Thank you very much for your advices. I downloaded the cdroller but the trial version only and surely enough my files are there. It's in Zip file format but keeps on hanging and takes a long time to open. probably because its a trial version. I may try to purchase the full version because you cannot save the data with the trial version.
I will also try to use the multi session mode with the cd writing software I have used.
I will keep you all posted on what happens.
Thanks again...have a great day all.
