data transfer (laptop to pc)

Hi,

I have a p3 laptop. Whenever i switch on i get a message “data error reading drive c” and it does not start windows. I am using windows 98 operating system. I tried installing windows 98 but no use. Is there any way to transfer data between laptop and a normal pc using network cable by dos commands.
