Database Driven Website

One of our execs wants IT to build an intranet site like the wikipeadia site for the firm. One of the techs told him that there is a software program that he can use to build the site. I have never heard of it. I built sites with Dreamweaver & PostgreSQL. Your thoughts please...

phpWiki is a good start

Give phpWiki a try. Its fairly easy to config and is suitable to use as an intranet site

Here is a good site that lists the various Wiki engines that are available.

At work we use MediaWiki. There are lengthy debates about what to put in the Wiki. And how much duplication or external linking needs to be present. Developers pose some resistance too, claiming they don't have much time to document (the usual).

But it is turning out to be a first stop place for technical knowledge within our development group.
