Database Percentage Function

By learneverything ·
Is there a database function for percentages? I have a survey, I need to know what percent of respondants answered 1, 2, etc. I need a database function because the field will have a 0 if they didn't answer.

Try typing in "Percentrank" or "Percentages" in the help menu. This may lead you down the right path.

if this is an access database I have done this by creating a query which groups and totals each question and then create a calculated field which will take the total number of questions divided by the total answers for the survey.

Eileen, Thanks. You have the right answer, but I had actually been e-mailing with Mike (below) and he got it first, he just didn't get it posted on the forum before you. Thanks for you expertise. I know you'll be getting points from me in the future. :-)

Hello

This would be the control source of a text box that finds the percent of answers that are A The field name is [Answer] and the table(domain) is [Test Question] and the criteria is [Answer] = 'A'

The underscore after test just shows wherethe text wraps. Do not type in literally.

I'm sending along the database I build to demonstate this. Hope this helps.

=(DCount("[Answer] ","[Test Question]","[Answer]='A'")/DCount("[Answer] ","[Test_ Question]"))*100

Mike
