i know this isn’t IT related, but it’s worth mentioning anyway.
what was up with last night’s episode? aside from the horridly funny skull crushing that phil leotardo got after waving bye-bye to his grandkids, the whole episode was a let down. oh yeah, also, a little skin from aj’s young girlfriend was nice, too (and the subsequent car explosion).
i know david chase wants us to make up our own ending about how the sopranos ends, but come on!! we wait 8 years for a finale, and the best episode of the past four years was last week when silvio and bobby partook in the sopranos bloodbath. chase could’ve ended the series on that note with tony in hiding. instead, we get let down like most of the past three/four seasons were.
we want closure, not limbo. we invest years of watching this show and learning to like the characters when in the end, chase doesn’t give us even a hint of what’s to come. what a let down.
it was a lazy way to end the series. does tony get shot? does meadow (come on, do another little dance tease for old times sake) come in and see the members only-jacket wearing guy pull a gun, only to startle him and give tony enough time to fight back? does someone else come in and pull a gun, or simply order some crispy onion rings? does the whole family die in a pool of their own blood?
the series finale reminded me of other corny series endings (note – seinfeld). everyone knew that this was the last season. chase had over a year to decide on a cool ending and give some closure.
yes, it’s just a tv show, but at the end of any tv show or movie, you always like to know what goes on in the future with the main characters, even though they’re just figments of the imagination.
in the end, big let down. chase is a tease. they should’ve ended last week with the sopranos big wigs going out in a hail of gunfire. and who’s john from cincinnati? who cares, the show was too weird.
