DCFSSVC.EXE -What is this? WinME shutdow

by carol . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

I’ve isolated WindowsME shutdown problems to DCFSSVC.EXE (c:\windows\system32\drivers\dcfssvc.exe). Once removed from startup, I could shut this laptop down with no problems. What I don’t know, is what the heck this application “does”? What is the OS’s need for this? I don’t want to arbitrarily shut down an application that is serving a needed function. So 🙂 can someone shed some light on this? Does anyone know of a “fix” (as in method of utillizing the application without causing ME tohang?).

Thank you in advance
