DCOM

By Joel M ·
hi there,
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this question, but I though you guys would at least know where I can find this info out...

I've made a COM component that is going to be used in an asp page, and A desktop application...the desktop APP is on the same network as the IIS server, so we were trying to use Microsoft Transaction Server to carry out the task of managing the component so that the ASP page, and the desktop APP can hit the COM component through the network. But unfortunately we can't find very many resources on how to accomplish this task.

if any one has experience in this area, we would really appreciate your help with any resources on the web, or if you could give examples.

thanks in advance
Joel M

Try Remote Invocation of the Component

Create a Client Package for the MTS component by exporting the same (from with the MTS Explorer. You can rt. click on the package and choose export).

The Export Wizard will ask you for the Destination of the (.PAK) file. Provide one. Once the Export is thru, you should find a Executable file, with a name same as that you provided for the .PAK file. Run this on the Client Systems' from where you want to access the Component.

I think this should solve the problem. Please get back if not.
